Chris Barnes holds one of his two Emmy Awards. Seattle Channel was recognized with three regional Emmy Awards. Seattle Channel won three awards at the 63rd annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards on Saturday, May 30. Seattle Channel videographer and producer Chris Barnes was recognized twice, receiving Emmys in the Human Interest – Short Form Content and Editor categories for his Art Zone profile on Georgetown creative and community leader Larry Reid. Seattle Channel freelancer Michael Crowe also was honored with an Emmy in the Short Form Content Writer category for his contributions to CityStream.
“These Emmy honors are a testament to Seattle Channel’s unique role in our community,” said Mayor Katie B. Wilson, who has appeared as a guest on programs like City Inside/Out and Citizen University TV dating back to at least 2011. “The team doesn’t just document city government, they help tell Seattle’s story with depth, humanity, and care. Our city is better informed and connected because of their work.”
This year, the municipal television station received 11 nominations. The channel was nominated across a wide range of categories, including Diversity/Equity/Inclusion, Health/Medical, Human Interest, Business/Consumer, Overall Excellence, and more. The prestigious Overall Excellence award, which the station won for the first time last year, recognizes the quality, variety, and impact of an organization’s storytelling. Seattle Channel competed against commercial and public television stations and other media networks and organizations in the Northwest NATAS five-state region, which includes Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. All awards in the 63rd annual Northwest Emmy Awards were for work completed between January 1 and December 31, 2025.
“Seattle Channel’s Emmy recognition reflects the creativity, technical craft, and public service values that guide this team every day. Their storytelling helps Seattle residents better understand their city, see their neighbors, and stay connected to the issues that shape our community,” said Interim Chief Technology Officer Tracye Cantrell.
