Technology Matching Funds are now available: with a March 12, 2014 deadline. Apply for a grant up to $20,000 for technology literacy and access or civic engagement projects. Iu-Mien American Association Launches a New Computer Literacy Program

With support from the Technology Matching Fund to install state-of-the-art laptops, Iu-Mien now provides computer access at their Southeast Seattle location. Volunteers play a key role in providing computer instruction for those looking to become more employable in the market place. Filipino Community Center Offers a STEAM Lab Program for Low Income Youth

The Filipino Community of Seattle is offering a technology instruction project for up to 50 youths starting this Fall. The program is called STEAM Lab, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. It will expose kids to computer literacy and robotics. Students will also learn essential life skills training, collaboratively working in project-based teams, and developing problem solving skills. City awards Technology Matching Funds to 24 community groups

Over 70 community representatives came to City Hall on Aug 7th to share about the amazing work they do helping Seattle’s most vulnerable residents gain technology access and skills. Councilmember Bruce Harrell’s committee unanimously approved funding $320,000 in Technology Matching Funds to support their efforts. Salmon Culture Meets Game Programming
